Mayoral Incumbent Martha Andrus Loses, Edward Jones & Robert Wiley Set For Showdown
According to the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Unofficial Election Results for Election Date: 10/2/2010, from a field of 7 candidates in the Grambling mayoral election, voters sent a message for change as the incumbent Mayor Martha Andrus lost her bid for re-election with just 14% of the vote.
Council Member and Mayor Pro Temp Edward Jones and Robert Wiley remain standing in the bid to become Grambling’s next mayor. Out of 694 votes, Ed Jones received 256 votes compared to 155 for newcomer Robert Wiley.
Robert Wiley eliminated Council Member Alvin Bradley’s bid to become mayor by just 22 votes and is set to face off with Edward Jones in the upcoming run-off election on Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010.
The Changing Face Of Grambling’s Council
The relatively few voters who did vote in the October 2nd, 2010 election also made a definitive statement about changes desired in Grambling’s Council. Receiving just 3% of the vote Council Member Toby Bryan lost his bid for re-election, leaving just 2 of the current Council Members up as possibles for re-election.
In the order of most votes received these top 10 Council Member candidates are also set to face off in the upcoming November 2nd run-off election:
Yanise N. Days, Birdex Copeland, Jr., Council Member Roy L. Jackson, Cullen Jackson, Cathy Holmes, Nettie Goree, Shirley Wesley, Council Member Roosevelt Bryant Jr., Carl McCarter, and Flynn A. Ludley.
Mathematically speaking with over 3,000 voters registered in Grambling it’s still anybody’s race in both the bid for Mayor and Council.
